but like today, my friend was like, im getting my hair cut on friday.

and i said, how?

she said im going to thin it out.

and i was like ohhhhh ...

but i dont really know what that means ...

is it like layering your hair, or what ?

Thinning is done by using special thinning shears that doesnt cut every hair. it cuts"every other hair" i have incredulously thick hair and have finally resigned to getting it thinned.

the stylist will clip down the shaft of the hair and then comb the hair she clipped out. it makes the hair less bulky and is recommended for those like me who cant get much relief from the weight headaches from the hair. Layering can relieve some of the problem but honestly if you have a poofy hair type layering will only add to your styling problems. Less hair, less problems styling it, and less headaches. If you already have thin hair, DO NOT get this done.

The hair stylist takes a razor or thinning sheers and thins it out to make less hair on the head.. its not taken from the very top its taken towards the ends of the hair so its not so poofy and what not.. hard to explain..

People get their hair layered %26amp; thinned out also... they layer it %26amp; use the razor and or thinning sheers to take more hair off.

i don't think you will find a pic of thinned hair it's not a cut or style ...when someone has really think hair or wants a style that looks best with thin hair then the hair dresser will take some hair out by using a thinning tool or just scissors my hair dresser also (sister in law) thins my husbands every time he gets a cut ...she takes the scissors and makes very small snips at random choice all over the head close to the scalp underneath the top layer it's just cutting strands that can't be seen to take hair out so the hair is thinner hope this is helps its not easier to describe
