10 year old losing hair?

10 year old is losing quiet a large amount of hair when brushing. She has always had curly and kind of thin hair. However recently her hair is looking a lot more thinner and shorter. There does not be any hair on her pillow, only when brushing lots of strands of hair come on wid the comb. There is not any bald patches, it just looks thin. She is not stressed, but she sometimes doesnt eat very much meat, chicken or fish. Could this be the reason why? The local GP prescribed her with some vitamins, and told me to get her a blood test done. Could this be anything serious? It's gettin really quiet worrying and she has noticed how much hair she is losing. Please help, many thanks.

Well you definitely need protein..of some sort..be it meat, fish, chicken or nuts..peanut butter ,beans something..she is already taking vitamins..I take B vitamins the b12 with a folic acid also..the b 12 is one that melts in your mouth but then I take a folic acid also. I use a ouchless brush by Goody and not a comb..that may be a problem too. I use Biolage daily leave in tonic and it helps with tangle s and also is a great conditoner..I wash my hair with rain water which is free of chemicals and makes it very soft.. and I also use the John Freida shampoos they are very nice and I loose hair morally when I brush my hair eveyrday..but dont notice anything but nice hair length and growth..is good.Is the child a nervous one? I hope the B vitaims help with stress also..that is why i started taking them to begin with..and they ended up being good for my hair also..sorry i coldtn help further..good luck.

There could be a few health reasons why this is happening, and it should show up in the blood test. A thyroid problem will do this very thing...and it is treatable with one little pill a day. If it isn't her thyroid, then it sure does sound like a vitamin deficiency.
